Pushing 60 and still paying for a painful divorce, Kesse (Henrik Birch, The Killing, Borgen) is a set-in-his ways fisherman. He is struggling to make ends meet given newly imposed environmental regulations and declining numbers of fish in the local seas. Faced with firing his only crew member and even losing his boat to the bank, he reluctantly accepts an offer to take a marine biologist onboard in exchange for an extra set of fish quotas that could help him stay financially afloat. The scientist who arrives is the attractive Gerd (Susanne Storm), a warm-hearted woman with whom a romance blossoms bringing unexpected redemption into Kesse’s life. However, an accident forces Kesse to do the unthinkable and puts his newfound happiness to the ultimate test.
